My Ex Said I Smell Good

I’m imagining myself 10 years ago when I was 21 years old growing up and dating in Michigan.

Experts say smell is one of the strongest links to memory…or something like that. I’m sure the actual saying is much more eloquent than my paraphrasing, but I digress. Either way, the power smell has on one’s memory is undeniably strong!

When I think of my ex smelling good, I think of Nicholas Freeman. His Dolce & Gabanna Light Blue cologne knew how to send my young heart wild. I remember smelling it on me as I would drive to work the next day after waking up next to my ex.

Then there’s Josh who introduced me to my signature cologne which I still use to this day: Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce. Josh, that was seriously life-changing. Thank you. I only got the cologne because I wanted to impress him. I remember him telling me, “Andrei, there is someone walking in front of me at college right now and he smells amazing. I want to follow him home so bad! That’s how good he smells.” Of course, I had to find out what the smell was and immediately copy him.

Well, I ended up getting that cologne. I know that it smells good. In fact, I may have known that it smelled a little too good. When I’m about to tell you is a bit embarrassing…

Don’t spray your ex’s belongings with your perfume.

To most people, that’s probably obvious. But to me at the time it really wasn’t. So, after Nicholas and Josh, I eventually found a new eventual ex-boyfriend of mine named Connor. Connor said I smelled good quite often. Little did he know, I smelled so good because of Josh’s recommendation.

When Connor and I broke up, I remembered him saying how much he likes the smell of my cologne. So, I ignorantly figured I should spray his clothes with several very, very generous sprays of Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce.

Did he notice? Oh, you bet your bottom dollar he did. And you know what? He even said, “Oh Andrei! My clothes smell so good and it’s bringing back memories. Why would you do this?”

So, the moral of the story… don’t use the power of smell to manipulate your ex into thinking about you by spraying their clothes. Ok? Don’t be like my younger self.

Your ex saying you smell good probably brings back memories.

Like I was saying earlier, the sense of smell is very powerful to memory. I even went into a Macy’s here in Hawaii to try to smell the Dolce & Gabbana cologne that I remembered from 10 years ago. I wanted that badly to be transported in time using the power of my ex smelling good.

So, if your ex said that you smell good, just know for a fact that he or she is 100% going to think about you and associate that sent with you for the rest of time!

That’s how powerful of a thing it is for your ex to say that you smell good.

Smelling good for your ex doesn’t mean you’ll get back together.

But in my humble opinion, your ex is saying that you smell good for a reason. Why would your ex-boyfriend compliment you if he didn’t want to feel good about you?

Do you know what I mean? I wouldn’t tell an enemy that they smell good. Not that I actually have any enemies…

So anyway. Your ex saying that you smell good means that he or she views you as a friendly person! Because like we said, who goes around complimenting unfriendly people for no reason? Or getting close enough to smell an unfriendly person? That’s just weird. But you’re not unfriendly… and even if you were you’d still smell good according to your ex.
